XpressJobs partners with SLIM to open up job opportunities for students

xpressJobs recently signed a partnership with Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) to allow all graduates to get a job through XpressJobs as soon as they finish their studies.

“We have a section on our website with jobs which require the SLIM qualification. When SLIM graduates visit the site, they can easily identify and apply for these vacancies which require their qualification,” said XpressJobs Director and Chief Technological Officer Chathum Henegama. Job seekers of SLIM will also receive job alerts that appear on XpressJobs which requires the SLIM qualification via email, whatsapp or text.

“We want this to be a fruitful partnership as it will open opportunities for marketing students across the island and particularly in the regions where the SLIM study centres are present. We have over 20 regional centres in the country, including North East, and this is a great way to reach out to job seekers. They can easily see the potential job opportunities and the number of positions require our qualifications such as sales and marketing, advertising, marketing research, distribution and branding,” said SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake.

Vacancies in sales and marketing roles are difficult to fill in the current job market. This is due to a popular misconception among newcomers in the job market that it is a difficult “field job”. Many prefer an “office job” because it is the easier of the two options. Some are even discouraged to take it on as they fear they will not be able to do it well.

However, jobs in sales and marketing are highly paid with a lot of prospects where marketers have the potential to rise up to the challenge of going out there, connecting consumers with products and services that make their life better while networking to grow into well-rounded personalities.

With qualifications such as SLIM, students receive the necessary training and background to pursue a career in marketing that is creative and lucrative. Companies who work with XpressJobs have more chances of getting a SLIM graduate to apply as opposed to someone who isn’t SLIM qualified. XpressJobs also gains access to job seekers in locations outside of Colombo which allows companies to find employees from these areas, rather than relocating employees from other areas. For example, when a company in Jaffna posts a vacancy, a notification will be sent across to past and present pupils of the Jaffna SLIM Study Centre. Companies seeking to fill marketing positions gain priority access to SLIM qualified students, while job seekers gain employment, thereby creating the ultimate win-win for all parties involved.
