TRADING MANAGER - COMMODITIES
Are you an experienced trading professional looking for an exciting opportunity? We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Trading Manager to join our team to head up and build a team as necessary to develop procuring for the group as well as develop sales leads for supply lines that the group has access to for a variety of products.
The right candidate should be self-motivated and capable of operating on his own without direct involvement on a daily basis from any of the other group executives, who as directors shall give the focus and objectives to be achieved. The contract shall be for a trial 6-month period after which the position shall be made permanent subject to performance and growth of the division.
The ideal candidate must have considerable sales experience in Sri Lanka and ideally internationally as well as exposure to general trade practices such as shipping, containerization, shipping documentation, and related finance. As the division develops the objective is to handle all major procurement through this entity.
The commodities that the group will procure and trade among others are:
- Fertilizer and Agrochemicals
- Medical equipment
- Automotive parts
- Steel, oils, and other commodities
- Timber
Ideal Experience:
- International trade
- Trade documentation - Letters of Credit, Shipping documents, Bills of Exchange, Bills of Lading, Customs Clearance, Invoicing and Contracts
- Clearing of goods
- Freight forwarding
- Shipping and booking
- Trade Finance - Negotiation of Letters of Credit
- Sourcing of buyers and also sellers of commodities
Prerequisite:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field or professional certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trading, with a proven track record of success in executing profitable trading strategies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
